National Robotics Academy hosted the first Falcon Knight High School VEX Robotics tournament this year.

This tournament qualified four teams for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, the Excellence Award winner and the three Tournament Champion teams. The Excellence award was awarded to team 1970K (Knight Shift) from Mount Michael HS. The Tournament Champions were 1028A (C:\DOS\RUN) from Brownell Talbot, 5233J (Justice League) from National Robotics Academy, Inc, and 1045A (OPS – Legion of Doom) from Benson High Magnet School.

Awards

Excellence Award

1970K (Knight Shift) from Mount Michael HS were awarded the Excellence Award. This is awarded to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a well rounded VEX robotics program. This award also qualifies the team for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship & CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship

Tournament Champions

Falcon Knight High School VEX Robotics Tournament Champions were 1028A (C:\DOS\RUN) from Brownell Talbot, 5233J (Justice League) from National Robotics Academy, Inc, and 1045A (OPS – Legion of Doom) from Benson High Magnet School. The Tournament Champions are the three team Alliance that wins the Elimination Rounds of the tournament. This award also qualifies the team for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship & CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship

Tournament Finalist

Falcon Knight High School VEX Robotics Tournament Finalists were 1970K (Knight Shift) from Mount Michael HS, 5813B (Black Squirrels) from Abraham Lincoln HS, and 1028Z (BT Ninth Grade) from Brownell Talbot. The Tournament Finalist are the three team Alliance that ends second in the Elimination Rounds of the tournament.

Programming Skills Winner

6685R (Vexorsism) from Millard South High School recorded the top Programming Skills score at 165 points. This award also qualifies the team for the CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship

Robot Skills Winner

6685R (Vexorsism) from Millard South High School recorded the top Robot Skills score at 232 points.

Design Award

5233J (Justice League) from National Robotics Academy, Inc. were awarded the Design Award. This is awarded to a team that demonstrates an organized and professional approach to the design process, project and time management and team organization.

Qualification Round Results

The tournament starts with Qualification Rounds, which are used to determine how you rank during the tournament. This rank is used during alliance selection, where 3 teams are paired off with each other. Each alliance competes in the Elimination rounds, which determines the Tournament Champions and Finalists. The Tournament Champions qualify for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship.

Elimination Rounds

The Elimination Rounds are used to determine the Tournament Champions. During the Elimination Rounds, Alliances of three different teams are formed. Each leg of the Bracket is a best of three, with each team in the alliance getting the opportunity to compete.

The Tournament Champions qualify for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship
