Omaha North Feb 6th Tournament Results

The Omaha North Feb 6th Tournament is the final regular season Nebraska VEX Robotics tournament. Teams took a last opportunity to qualify for the remaining spots at the VRC Heartland Regional Robotics Championship.

This tournament qualified three teams for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, the Excellence Award winner and the three Tournament Champion teams. The Excellence award was awarded to team 6813C (MW LEO LIFT) from Millard West High School. The Tournament Champions were 1064P (OPS – Almost HD) from Omaha North High School, and 1045D (OPS – The Bunny Overload) from Benson High School.

2016 Nebraska & Iowa Online Challenge Entries

The mission for Robotics in Nebraska is to develop critical Science, Technology, Engineering and Math skills.  These skills will prepare our students to succeed in a future job environment that will be very different from what we see today.

Robotics competitions have been a effective way to engage students and get them interested in developing these skills, but it isn’t the only method.  We encourage many other activities that develop our students, including judged presentations and online challenges.  This year, the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation ran ten different Online Challenges that spotlighted different skill sets for students to work on.

Nebraska and Iowa Entries

We’d like to spotlight the great work we’ve seen from Nebraska and Iowa teams on the Online Challenges.  We saw high quality submissions across both High School and Middle School.  You can recognize their projects by voting for their entries and/or ‘Liking’ their entry pages.  Check them all out:

Latest Regional Championship Qualifiers as of Jan 30th

Second weekend in a row with four VEX Robotics tournaments. We saw over 120 teams competing, with seven new teams qualifying for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship from the Kearney, Millard South, Benson High School Division and Benson Middle School Division VEX Robotics tournaments.

Congratulations to the five newly qualified High School teams who will be competing at the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship: 8019J (Techno Jocks) from Lakeview High School, 8019X (Blaegger) from Lakeview High School, 1028B (SV_Wall_Hacks) from Brownell-Talbot,  5813A  (The Kanesville Krush) from Abraham Lincoln High School, and 1049B (South Bots) from Omaha South High School.

Congratulations to the two newly qualified Middle School teams who will be competing at the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship: 1060A (OPS – 21 Bolt Street) from Buffett Magnet Middle School and 985D (Not Found in Nature) from Mary Our Queen School.

The VRC Heartland Regional Robotics Championship will host 44 of the best High School VEX Robotics teams and 32 of the best Middle School VEX Robotics teams from Iowa and Nebraska. Omaha Benson Middle School Tournament Results

The Omaha Benson Middle School Tournament is the final regular season Middle School VEX Robotics tournament. Middle School teams competed for the remaining qualifying spots at the VRC Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, with two more teams qualifying.

This tournament qualified four teams for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, the Excellence Award winner and the three Tournament Champion teams. The Excellence award was awarded to team 3919C (Young Guns) from St. Patrick’s Catholic School. The Tournament Champions were 1060A (OPS – 21 Bolt Street) from Buffett Magnet Middle School, 3919C (Young Guns) from St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and 985D (Not Found in Nature) from Mary Our Queen School.

Latest Regional Championship Qualifiers as of Jan 23rd

Another busy weekend of Vex Robotics tournaments in Nebraska and Iowa with four VEX Robotics tournaments this weekend. We saw about 135 teams competing, with nine new teams qualifying for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship from the Ravenna Public SchoolsGross Catholic High School, Falcon Knight High School, Falcon Knight Middle School VEX Robotics tournaments.  UPDATED Jan 26th @10:30 am: We had 367D entered in both High School and Middle School.  We removed the mistake from the High School list, this is a Middle School Qualification.  Fixed an error, 1064R was on the Tournament Champion Alliance, not 1064D.

Congratulations to the seven newly qualified High School teams who will be competing at the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship: 1064R (OPS – North R) from Omaha North, 68507D (SilverHawk bot 2) from Lincoln Public Schools, 2349A (OPS – Eagle Strike) from Central High School, 5069A (R.E.C.T) from Millard North HS, 2349B (OPS – Purple Talon) from Central High School, 1970K (Knight Shift) from Mount Michael HS, and1045A (OPS – Legion of Doom) from Benson High Magnet School.

Lincoln, Nebraska Public Schools VEX Robotics Competition

The Lincoln, Nebraska Public Schools VEX Robotics Competition was held on Saturday, January 16th. Twenty nine High School teams competed for a qualifying spot at the VRC Heartland Regional Robotics Championship.

This tournament qualified four teams for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, the Excellence Award winner and the three Tournament Champion teams. The Excellence award was awarded to team 6813B (MW M^3) from Millard West High School. The Tournament Champions were 1064A (Nebraska Nerd Herd) from Omaha North, 5813B (Black Squirrels) from Abraham Lincoln HS, and 1064X (Team X) from Omaha North.

Lincoln Intermediate VEX Results (in Mason City, IA)

The Lincoln Intermediate VEX tournament was held in Mason City, Iowa.  A very competitive tournament of both High School and Middle School teams competed for qualifying spots at the VRC Heartland Regional Robotics Championship.  Notably, they saw world ranked Robot Skills scores posted by 2501B and 2501J.  2501B was 10th in the world with a score of 314.  2501J was 12th in the world with a score of 310.

This tournament qualified four teams for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, the Excellence Award winner and the three Tournament Champion teams. The High School Excellence award was awarded to team 5233J (Justice League) from National Robotics Academy, Inc. The Middle School Excellence award was awarded to team 985A (Enlightened Luddites) from Mary Our Queen School. The Tournament Champions were 2501B (Optimus Dime) from Thomas Jefferson HS, 2501T (Where’s Aldo?) from Thomas Jefferson HS, and 367D (Trial & Error) from Solon MS.

Marrs MS VEX Robotics Tournament Results

Middle School teams competed at the Marrs MS VEX Robotics Tournament to qualifiy for the VRC Heartland Regional Robotics Championship.

This tournament qualified four teams for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, the Excellence Award winner and the three Tournament Champion teams. The Excellence award was awarded to team 985F (Process of Alumination) from Mary Our Queen School. The Tournament Champions were 1073A  (OPS – Decoded) from Marrs Magnet MS, 5233M (The Shield) from National Robotics Academy, Inc, and 1073B (OPS – Trojans) from Marrs Magnet MS.

Heartland Regional VEX Robotics Championship Qualifiers as of 12-12-15

We saw a big weekend for VEX Robotics, with nearly 150 teams competing in the Omaha Metro area across three tournaments.  There was a big surge in High School teams qualified for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship.

Congratulations to the following newly qualified High School teams who will be competing at the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship: 5069B (DERP.exe) & 5069D (Trojan Mustangs) from Millard North HS, 2501B (Optimus Dime) & 2501C (Point Blank Jackets) from Thomas Jefferson HS, and 5053A (Pioneer 1) from Fort Calhoun HS. These team qualified from the two High School tournaments this weekend: Omaha North VEX Robotics Tournament – High School Division and Elkhorn High School VEX Robotics Tournament.

Congratulations to the qualified Middle School team 985E (RoboDragons) from Mary Our Queen School for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship. Team 985E qualified from the Omaha North VEX Robotics Tournament – Middle School Division.  The other qualifying spots were taken by teams that had already qualified in prior Middle School tournaments.

Omaha North Tournament Results – Middle School Division

The Middle School Division of the Omaha North VEX Robotics Tournament is one of the largest and most competitive VEX Robotics tournaments in the region.  A test for many of the Middle School teams on handling big tournament scenarios.

This tournament qualified four teams for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, the Excellence Award winner and the three Tournament Champion teams. The Excellence award was awarded to team 985A (Enlightened Luddites) from Mary Our Queen School. The Tournament Champions were 985C (Robohawks) from Mary Our Queen School, 3018V (VEXcalibur) from TechnaPwn Robotics, and 985E (RoboDragons) from Mary Our Queen School.
