The Omaha Benson High School Tournament is the last two division tournament for the Nebraska / Iowa VEX Robotics Nothing But Net season. One more team qualified from this tournament to the VRC Heartland Regional Robotics Championship.
This tournament qualified four teams for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship, the Excellence Award winner and the three Tournament Champion teams. The Excellence award was awarded to team 1064A (OPS – Nebraska Nerd Herd) from Omaha North HS. The Tournament Champions were 2349A (OPS – Eagle Strike) from Omaha Central High School, 1064A (OPS – Nebraska Nerd Herd) from Omaha North HS, and 1049B (OPS – South Bots) from Omaha South High School.

Excellence Award
1064A (OPS – Nebraska Nerd Herd) from Omaha North HS were awarded the Excellence Award. This is awarded to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a well rounded VEX robotics program. This award also qualifies the team for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship & CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship
Tournament Champions
The Omaha Benson High School Tournament Champions were 2349A (OPS – Eagle Strike) from Omaha Central High School, 1064A (OPS – Nebraska Nerd Herd) from Omaha North HS, and 1049B (OPS – South Bots) from Omaha South High School. The Tournament Champions are the three team Alliance that wins the Elimination Rounds of the tournament. This award also qualifies the team for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship & CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship.
Tournament Finalist
The Omaha Benson High School Tournament Finalists were 1045D (OPS – The Bunny Overload) from Omaha Benson High School, 6202T (Moment of Force) from Moment of Force Robotics, and 3018 (Techna Pwns) from Techna Pwn Robotics. The Tournament Finalist are the three team Alliance that ends second in the Elimination Rounds of the tournament.
Programming Skills Winner
1970K (Knight Shift) from Mount Michael High School recorded the top Programming Skills score at 297 points. This award also qualifies the team for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship & CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship.
Robot Skills Winner
1970K (Knight Shift) from Mount Michael High School recorded the top Robot Skills score at 302 points. This award also qualifies the team for the CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship.
Design Award
5233J (Justice League) from National Robotics Academy, Inc were awarded the Design Award. This is awarded to a team that demonstrates an organized and professional approach to the design process, project and time management and team organization.
Amaze Award
2349D (OPS – Bionic Eagles) from Omaha Central High School were awarded the Amaze Award. This is awarded to a team that has built a competition robot that clearly demonstrates overall quality. A solid mechanical design along with demonstrated robot programming, robustness, strong performance and consistency are key attributes assessed for this award.
Build Award
4327E (Guardians of the Elk) from Elkhorn High School were awarded the Amaze Award. This is awarded to a team that has built a well crafted and constructed robot that also shows a clear dedication to safety and attention to detail. Judges will be looking for robots that have a professional feel and quality look to them, with clear attention to detail in construction, efficient use of mechanical and electronic components, and reliability on the competition field.
Create Award
2349A (OPS – Eagle Strike) from Omaha Central High School were awarded the Amaze Award. This is awarded to a team whose robot design incorporates a creative engineering solution to the design challenges of this year’s game. Attributes such as solid mechanical ability, unique design solutions and innovative approaches to playing the game will be taken into account by the judges looking for teams demonstrating a highly creative engineering design process.

Qualification Round Results
The tournament starts with Qualification Rounds, which are used to determine how you rank during the tournament. This rank is used during alliance selection, where 3 teams are paired off with each other. Each alliance competes in the Elimination rounds, which determines the Tournament Champions and Finalists. The Tournament Champions qualify for the Heartland Regional Robotics Championship.

Elimination Rounds
The Elimination Rounds are used to determine the Tournament Champions. During the Elimination Rounds, Alliances of three different teams are formed. Each leg of the Bracket is a best of three, with each team in the alliance getting the opportunity to compete.
